Plastic windows to protect high quality laser optics from welding spatters or to protect robot sensors (control eye).

Up to a power density of 0,5 MW/m² the time of operation is considerably longer than of exit windows from glass or quartz. Hot welding spatters do not adhere, but vaporize window material without residue (Leidenfrosts phenomenon). Therefore the window remains longer transparent.

The maximum tolerable power density is 1 MW/m².
